While you are on your teaching placement in the Professional Program, the library's online resources and services continue to be available as outlined below:

Extended Loan of Library Materials of most library materials from either of the Education Libraries (Thunder Bay or Orillia) is available for the duration of your placement. You will receive information pertaining to this extended loan period prior to your placement. For more information contact edlib@lakeheadu.ca (Thunder Bay) or orlib@lakeheadu.ca (Orillia).

Scan and Delivery of book excerpts and journal articles are available while you are on your placement. Find the item in Omni and click the yellow bar for request options.  If you have trouble locating an item in Omni, please contact the library edlib@lakeheadu.ca (Thunder Bay) or orlib@lakeheadu.ca (Orillia).

Library Guides are available on many Education related topics and include links to many important print and online resources. Go to the Education Libraries site to access a series of P/J Library Guides; I/S Library Guides; and other library guides including K-12 Indigenous Education; Language Arts Mentor Texts; K-12 Makerspaces; Children/Young Adult Social Justice Booklists  and more.

Access to Online K-12 Lesson Planning & EBook Databases: While you are on your placement, you have access to many online databases with teaching activities, ebooks, reproducible pages and lesson plans and more. Start at the Education Libraries website, and find the "Resources" box . Here you have access to ebook, lesson planning and streaming databases. If you are off campus, login with your LU username and password unless you are directed to "Education Passwords" a course site which lists unique password information (see below).

Education Passwords D2L Course Site: Some online resources require a login that is not your LU email username and password. This username/password information is available in a mycourselink course site named: "Education Passwords" , available to every Lakehead University Faculty of Education student.

Library Hours and Contact Information: The Education Library, on both campuses, are open during your teaching placements. Check the Education libraries website for the most up to date library hours.

The Orillia Education Library will usually show as "Open by Appointment" - please email orlib@lakeheadu.ca, to coordinate a time to visit the library which will be convenient for you. If useful for you, items from the Orillia Education Library can be taken to the Orillia University Avenue campus, for pickup there after-hours or on weekends.

The Thunder Bay Education Library is open evenings and weekends during the placement period. Please remember to check the library hours page, as our library hours will change during the placement period and end of term. If you are unable to visit the library in person during our library hours please send an email to edlib@lakeheadu.ca and alternate arrangements for pickup or drop off of items can be made.
