What is an interlibrary loan?
Interlibrary loan is a service that allows Lakehead students, faculty and staff to borrow materials from other libraries, if they are not available at Lakehead. The process for requesting materials across Ontario University (Omni) Libraries has been recently improved and streamlined. Now, you can search for and request items from other Omni libraries directly through Omni.
New! Request interlibrary loan materials from Omni
Omni, the library’s main academic search tool, should now be used to place all requests for interlibrary loan materials. To place a request for an interlibrary loan material in Omni:
- Search for a material in Omni and sign in to place your request on the item record. Check out our video on requesting materials for more information
- If you are unable to find what you are looking for in Omni:
- Try expanding your search by toggling on “Add results beyond Lakehead’s collection”, located in the left Omni navigation menu
- Submit an interlibrary loan blank request form
RACER
RACER was the system previously used to place requests for interlibrary loan and is no longer available. Please use Omni for all interlibrary loan requests.
