The Archives is located on the 5th floor of the Chancellor Paterson Library in Thunder Bay, and is normally open to students, faculty, staff, and the public. At this time, appointments are required: you can make arrangements by contacting sjanes1@lakeheadu.ca. Drop-in hours will be available starting in September 2024.
Archival records can’t be signed out of the library; instead you will be able to read and take notes in the Archives. A staff member will be present to assist you. In most cases, you will be allowed to take digital photographs of records, or take notes in other ways. Photocopies and scans can also be arranged. All researchers are asked to provide contact information, and not bring any food or drink into the Archives.
It’s best to come prepared for a research visit, by identifying which sets of records you’d like to work with first. You can review our holdings at [archives.lakeheadu.ca] prior to your visit.
