We welcome all visitors to the libraries! Please contact us if you have any questions. Many of our online resources are available to visitors on Library computers. Please ask library staff how to access the computers and printers.

Community members local to the Thunder Bay area or Orillia can borrow library material at no charge. Please bring your government issued ID to obtain a library card.

We suggest you visit our libraries at times when our students are less busy, during breaks and between May and August are ideal times. Priority to spaces, computers and collections will be given to active Lakehead University students, faculty and staff.

High School Students and Teachers

  • High school students are subject to the library's community borrower policies. Community borrowers must be at least 17 years of age and provide the library with valid government-issued ID and proof of address.
  • High school students who are younger than 17 years are welcome to browse and use the library's physical collection in-house, but will not be permitted to sign out items.
  • In Thunder Bay, please contact Monica Gibbons, or in Orillia, Chris Tomasini at (705) 330-4008x2260, if you’re interested in bringing your class to campus.

Login to the Library's Computers

Library users not directly affiliated with Lakehead University must request a username and password by filling out this form in order to login to the desktop computers located in the Library.

Usernames and passwords are unique to each user and expire every Sunday at midnight.

After your request has been submitted, please visit the Library in order to receive your login credentials. You must present government-issued photo ID in order to receive your username and password.

Visitors may add money to their account in order to print or photocopy, but any unused funds will also expire every Sunday at midnight.

Alumni

Present your alumni card at a Lakehead University Library to borrow material.

Most online resources can be accessed on computers located in a library. Ask library staff to find out how to get access to computers and printing. A limited number of online resources are available to alumni from off-campus.
