Extended Loan of Library Materials of most library materials from either of the Education Libraries (Thunder Bay or Orillia) is available for the duration of your placement. You will receive information pertaining to this extended loan period prior to your placement. For more information contact edlib@lakeheadu.ca (Thunder Bay) or orlib@lakeheadu.ca (Orillia).
Contactless Curbside Pickup is available for most library materials in the Education Libraries during the pandemic closure. Find the item in Omni and follow the steps for "Requesting Materials for Curbside Pickup" on the "Getting Started with Omni" guide. If you have trouble locating an item in Omni, please contact the library edlib@lakeheadu.ca (Thunder Bay) or orlib@lakeheadu.ca (Orillia). Scan and Delivery of book excerpts and journal articles are available while you are on your placement. Library Guides are available on many Education related topics and include links to many freely available resources. Go to the Education Libraries site to access a series of P/J Library Guides; I/S Library Guides; K-12 Indigenous Education; Language Arts Mentor Texts; K-12 Makerspaces; Children/Young Adult Booklists and more.
Access to Online K-12 Lesson Planning & EBook Databases: While you are on your placement, you have access to many online databases with teaching activities, ebooks, reproducible pages and lesson plans and more. Start at the Education Libraries website, and find the "K-12 Resources" box . Here you have access to ebook and lesson planning databases. If you are off campus, login with your LU username and password unless you are directed to "Education Passwords" a course site which lists unique password information (see below).
Education Passwords D2L Course Site: Some databases and software (ie OSAPAC) require a login that is not your LU email username and password. This username/password information is available in a mycourselink course site named: "Education Passwords" , available to every Lakehead University Faculty of Education student.
