Information for Instructors

We are excited to announce the launch of our new reading list management tool, myReadings. myReadings embeds seamlessly into your D2L/myCourseLink course site and offers an improved student reading list experience. Please see our information page for further details.

How to submit course reserves

Before submitting any course reserve material, you must set up a course site in myCourseLink; see instructions below:

  • Log into MyInfo
  • Click the "Faculty" tab
  • Click "Class Roster (Current)"
  • Select the applicable course and click "Continue"
  • Click "Request an Online Course Site"
  • Fill in the form and submit

For help with myCourseLink, contact the Teaching Commons at mycourselink@lakeheadu.ca.
Processing a request for a course site takes approximately 1-2 business days.


Once you have your D2L / MyCourseLink course-site, please complete the following steps:

Library Reserves Form:

Please fill out this reserves form.

The form tells the library what articles / books / materials you would like to have added to your MyReadings module on your D2L/MyCourseLink course-site.


MyReadings:

Please follow the steps listed on this page, to add the MyReadings module to your D2L/MyCourseLink course-site. Please follow all steps down to, and including, choosing a template.

Once you have embedded MyReadings into your course-site, library staff will be able to add your requested citations into MyReadings.


Processing time for course reserves:

If you select the Course Reserve option as your Request Type, please allow up to 7 business days for processing. Processing time may take longer (2-8 weeks) if copyright clearance is required.

Information for Students

Please look for the myReadings module in each of your MyCourseLink course-sites. All reserve readings will be in myReadings.

*Some professors may put individual articles / books for you to read in other modules of the course site.

Types of materials:

Online - for most articles, and many books, you will have online access to the item. If you are accessing readings from home, you will have to log in using your Lakehead username / password, to view electronic items.

Print - if an item is only available in print format, it will be held at one of the Lakehead library desks. Please note which library the item is at, and write down the title and call number, and bring this information with you to the library to borrow the item.
